Frequently asked questions
It all began with a simple idea fueled by a deep passion. As a small business, we pride ourselves on personal attention and dedication to every detail. Our approach is rooted in quality and integrity, ensuring that everything we do reflects our commitment to excellence.
Are you a qualified solicitor or barrister?
No. I hold an LLB (Hons) in Law and am currently completing an LLM in Employment Law. I work as a McKenzie Friend and advocate, offering informal support — not legal advice or representation.
2. What is a McKenzie Friend?
A McKenzie Friend is someone who supports a litigant in person during legal proceedings. This can include note-taking, quiet advice, and emotional support. I also help outside court with drafting and procedural guidance.
3. What kind of support do you offer?
I help individuals understand and complete legal documents such as:
- ET1 Employment Tribunal claims
- Grievance letters
- DSAR (Data Subject Access Request) templates
I also offer procedural guidance and clarity around employment rights.
4. Can you represent me in court or speak on my behalf?
No. I do not offer representation. In some cases, a judge may allow a McKenzie Friend to speak, but this is rare and must be approved by the court.
5. Is your support legally binding or guaranteed?
No. All support is informal and educational. You remain responsible for your case, decisions, and legal outcomes.
6. How do I get help from you?
You can message me on Instagram using keywords like:
- “ET1” for tribunal support
- “GRIEVANCE” for letter drafting
- “DSAR” for data request templates
I’ll guide you through the next steps.
7. Do you charge for your services?
Some services are free (e.g., basic guidance or templates). Others — like tailored grievance letters or tribunal prep — may involve a fee. Pricing is transparent and discussed upfront.
8. Is your service faith-specific?
I welcome all backgrounds. My focus is on supporting individuals whose faith intersects with legal challenges — such as religious discrimination, volunteer disputes, or ethical concerns.
9. Do you offer support outside employment law?
Yes, within limits. I’ve supported individuals in family, housing, and criminal matters as a McKenzie Friend. However, my core focus is employment law and related procedures.
10. How do I know your support is trustworthy?
I bring academic training (LLB, LLM), union experience, and real-world advocacy to every case. I work with compassion, clarity, and a commitment to justice — always within legal boundaries.
